July 10, 2017

I apologize in advance. This weekly will be short. Some of you will be happy about that though.

We did have a cool experience this week though! As we have been trying to find people to teach and bring back to church, we found a lady named Josephine who wants to "get back in the swing of things"! She has a sincere desire, which was very cool to see. She has been less active for a while, but she does want to do the things that will bring her closer to the Savior. Cool stuff.

Also, I read in Alma 33:28 this week, and it was powerful to me.

"And now, my brethren, I desire that ye shall plant this word in your hearts, and as it beginneth to swell even so nourish it by your faith. And behold, it will become a tree, springing up in you unto everlasting life. And then may God grant unto you that your burdens may be light, through the joy of his Son. And even all this can ye do if ye will."
If we want to partake of the fruit of the tree of life and experience everlasting life, if we want to have the word planted in our hearts and become converted to the gospel, it is possible! All we have to do is choose it, like Alma says. In the doctrine and covenants, the Lord says that the "power is in [us]", that we are agents unto ourselves to choose eternal life or eternal death! (D&C 58)

I hope and pray that we all choose eternal life through Jesus Christ by doing those simple things every day that bring us closer to Him, just like Josephine committed to do!

I love you all very appropriately

Email to mom:

That's so crazy that you guys got puppies! I am happy that you did though. I won't have to come home to not having a dog lol we will have 2! So funny. They are super cute. I can see why you had to get both of them hahaha

It is true, Mandi, and Echo have not responded to the gospel. In fact, both of them have told us that they don't want to meet with us anymore. It's pretty sad. We have faith that the Lord will lead us to others who are prepared though! We have been working hard to help the members become more involved. We are seeing some fruits from that, but it is definitely more slow going. However, even though working with the members in the area is the slow way, it is the best way. We probably won't see the fruits of our efforts here, but as we take the time to help build up the members and help them become good member missionaries, they will continue their efforts long after we leave.

We are excited because there are a couple of people that some members are working with that have some solid potential! It's pretty cool.

Also this week we spent a lot of time trying to contact people in the area that nobody knows. We go through the ward lists and pick out the people that pretty much nobody knows and contact them. It's super good! We found a lady named Josephine who has been less active for a long time that wants to come back to church! Her husband isn't a member, but we are going to see her on Wednesday to teach her! Exciting!

So the rest of this transfer will be super crazy! We have Zone conferences on TuesdayWednesdayThursday, and Friday! Zone Conferences last from 8 AM to about 3 or 4 PM. We will be in Loveland, Fort Collins, then Cheyenne, and finally Casper this week. Crazy. It will be a tiring week. Also, since Elder Fraser is going home on the 25th, I will probably know who my new companion will be this weekend.
Then next week we are planning transfers and orienting my new companion, and then I will have to be the senior assistant! I still don't know what I'm doing, so that will be exciting.

Sorry I don't have a lot to report on, this week has not been super exciting. We did have a car fast this Saturday. We walked probably about 6 or 7 miles that day. (And we got special permission to drive for the first half because we had to pick up one of the McMurray kids for work)
We are trying to work as hard as we can, and we aren't seeing a whole lot of results, but we are trying. We have faith that we will see miracles as we keep showing our faith.

Love you mom! Thanks for sharing your insights again. I love it.

Love you!
Elder Bush
