Conference was so amazing! There were so many talks that i just absolutely loved! My current favorite is probably the talk by J Devin Cornish, that one was so awesome. General conference was just so good in general! I loved all of the talks. I also really loved president monsons talks. I thought he gave some really good counsel. 

Also. On saturday between sessions of general conference I figured out that i'm  being transferred to cheyenne tomorrow. I also figured out that i'm going to be serving in a YSA ward with elder coleman! Remember the guy that screams really loud? Lol that's him, he's my new companion. Elder hatch is staying here in the lakeside ward with a guy named elder robbins. I heard he's a really good missionary, so that'll be good. It's kinda stressful to leave but i know that the calling came from the Lord, so i'm excited to see what i learn this upcoming transfer. 

Because i'm being transferred i dont have a lot of time to email today, which is a bummer. I still have to pack and go say goodbye to lots of people. I think yesterday we went and took pictures with a bajillion people. I'll include pictures of that.

I am super grateful that you keep updating me on everything the kids are doing. I love hearing about their lives, the ups and downs and how they are handling them. Thanks for the pictures too! I got the email when we had wifi at a members house for missionary coordination meeting and i proceeded to show everyone there the pictures of them with nametags. I'm very late in sending yours and Leslie's, but they will hopefully get there before next Pday so i can get pictures of those too :)

I am on the last chapter of Jesus the Christ, and i love that book. I'm trying to decide whether to start that one over again or start reading another one when I finish it. A talk that really helped me understand mercy and forgiveness was one called "the Savior wants to forgive" i think it's by Craig a. Cardon or something like that. It's a great talk. I absolutely love it!

Every time we sung an intermediate hymn, i totally just imagined you guys at home singing too, and it was a way for me to feel close to you guys, thinking that we were singing the same song at the same time. A lot of times when you are at houses, other people don't sing. Which is boring. But i sang anyways because i wanted to sing with you guys. Especially on called to serve i sang with you guys. 

Missionary work this week was still great. We found some new investigators and resolved some concerns with our other investigators. I feel like I'll be coming back down from Cheyenne soon to see Amanda's baptism! She is making a lot of progress. It is so amazing to see!

Well like i said, i don't have a lot of time today because i still have to pack... but i love you so much and i will talk to you next week too.

I've never been this excited for General Conference before...

Seriously, it's kinda weird, but also awesome.
It is seriously such a privilege to be able to hear the words of
prophets of God!
Take some time this week to think about some questions or concerns you
are dealing with in your life and write them down- General Conference
will help answer those questions for you :)

Everyone is doing well here in Loveland. I have a sneaky sinking
feeling that this is my last full week here, with transfers coming up.

To Mom:

I thought you would like that video. I thought it was cool, and funny too. It was neat to go back and see all of the things that have happened in the past few months. I have now been in this ward for about 4 and a half months. I still don't want to leave, but whatever happens will be the Lord's will, i know that. 

I sent owen's badge late last week, so hopefully it gets there soon. I will try to send leslie's soon. I'm glad they loved it. It has been a way for me to try to encourage them to keep doing good things and to prepare for their missions. I look forward to being able to see them all. They are growing up so fast. I absolutely loved that video of Reuben's talk, and i showed it to amanda because he mentioned her. She thought it was adorable too. 

That is so cool that you were able to participate in helping her progress. Good for leslie on helping her integrate into the church. I am learning more and more about how important it is to have support from friends at church. In almost every instance where people fall inactive, it's because they lose friends or are offended by someone. Now, i don't think it's right for people to leave because they were offended or because they don't have friends, because the church is more than just a social club, but when we are friends to those new converts, then they probably won't ever fall away because they have support. 

Yeah i have heard that the women's conference was super awesome. I am excited to go through and read the talks. In gospel principles class, the teacher was already using quotes from that session, which i thought was pretty funny. I am so excited for general conference this weekend! It doesn't seem like it was that long ago when we had the last one! I am already preparing questions to take and stuff like that. 

It is so true. When we just hold our feelings inside, eventually. It all explodes, and it is never pleasant. That is why we have to have companionship inventory every week. We need to express annoyances or conflicts and discuss what we can do to improve our obedience and our relationship. Sounds cheesy, but it works. Maybe something like that could help the kids express their feelings. A one-on-one thing where they can just say how they feel and you can talk about it. It might help them learn to express their feelings in an appropriate way in an appropriate setting.

Your thoughts about eternal families really strike a chord with me too, because on Saturday we watched a family take a big step towards being sealed for time and all eternity. It was so cool to watch that. At dave's baptism, his kids were jumping up and down with excitement. It was so cute! It was amazing to watch them rejoice and celebrate together. The actual baptism was interesting. Dave is about 6 feet tall, and for some reason the font wasn't filling up quickly enough, so it only went up to his thighs. He had to kneel down in the font to be baptized lol plus the water was about 120 degrees so that was interesting. But it happened by immersion, and it only had to happen once, so that was nice. I'll include a picture. 

Other than that, the week was pretty uneventful, except for the fact that on sunday we also discovered that there is someone else who wants to get

baptized. her name is kara, and she is has been coming to church for a
while. She is 10, and her grandmother is a member. She decided she wanted
to get baptized, and they finally got permission from her dad, so they came
to us and now we are teaching them the lessons. We are super excited for her! We just keep seeing little miracles like that, and we are super duper excited to keep working even harder so we can see more. 

Ive been studying a lot about mercy this week, because i always struggle with being really hard on myself because i'm not very good at a lot of things. President McMurray told me to study all the scriptures listed in the mercy section of the index. It has really been helping me, and i am learning a lot about the atonement, which is making me even more grateful for it. 

I'm also almost finished with Jesus the Christ. What an amazing book! I am learning so much about the Savior. Now that i am close to the ned of that book, he talks about the first vision. I am so astounded by the fact that Joseph Smith the God the Eternal Father! I am only beginning to realize just how great of a privilege that was, not only for him, but also for all of us!

So cool.

Unfortunately, because of all the things we did today, i dont have a lot of time to email. At all. But i will talk about my week a little bit.

 Im glad to know everything is till going well at home, and that your lupus isnt too serious. When you mentioned that you had it, i got scared for a second, because i do know what that is, but im glad to hear that its not too serious right now. But still. It stinks that you have it, but at least the doctors know what it is so they can help you more. I pray for you and hope you are doing okay with everything. I miss you a lot. 

Something i studied this week in my scriptures was the importance of including Heavenly Father when we set goals. I realized this when i learned that through prayer we align our will with our Heavenly Fathers. That is why it is so important to prayerfully set goals because then our goals will be in line with the will of our Heavenly Father, and then He will be able to help us accomplish them. Something amazing happens when we set goals that are in line with our Heavenly Fathers goals. So that was something that i thought was cool that i learned this week. 

Also, saturday night, we went to visit this family, called the Coseo family. In the past we had struggled to get appointments with them, and then we showed up right at the perfect time on saturday night, which was awesome. Then they invited us in, sat all their kids down, and listened to the message of the restoration intently! It was so awesome! So now we are teaching a family of 6, which is super cool. They seemed excited about moving forward, and they said they would come to church. Unfortunately they didnt make it, but i know they can next week! We are so excited for them. 

Also this week we were able to help more people come to churchm which was awesome. In recent weeks we've kinda been struggling with that, but it was super cool to be able to have 4 people at church on Sunday. Hopefully next week we have that family of 6 and then everything just gets better and better!

Dave miller is being baptized this Saturday, something else we are really excited for. He is the driest mormon you ever met. He already pays tithing and keeps the word of wisdom and already has an 'assignment' (they can't call it a calling because he isnt baptized yet)

Super cool guy. I am amazed at his faith, and at the faith of everyone i meet out here. Everyone is just so awesome!

Im glad to hear that what i said helped leslie. Also the interview with elder grow was really cool. It motivated me a lot. Im nervous about next transfer. I am praying that i stay in this area for at least one more transfer. That would be so great. I would love to do that. I love the people here, I love the missionaries here, i love my calling here, i love the weather, i love the living conditions, i love the opportunities in this area for growth, i just love everything about it. 

But of course, because im comfortable here, i will probably have to get transferred. I've been here for 3, so it would be a miracle if i got to stay another one, especially since im almost finished training elder hatch. It will be such a bummer to leave. I know i cant stay my whole mission here though, although i wish i could. It is an awesome area. 

I am really so glad to hear that everyone is doing well, and i will try to respond to the kids emails next week, let them know that. Tell them all that i love them and have a big group hug for me :)

What a week!
Elder C. Scott Grow of the seventy came to our mission this week, and
that was definitely an amazing experience. I learned a lot from him.

This week, Dave (remember that guy who had been coming to church for 8
years) finally realized that he did have a testimony!
He is such a cool guy, and we are so excited for him, because he is
planning on getting baptized here in a couple of weeks. His family is
super great.

Spencer got the priesthood this week, so that was a very cool
experience, and then Amanda finished like pretty much the whole
standard works. Just kidding, she only finished the Pearl of Great
Price. And maybe she's started Doctrine and Covenants by now. I don't
know. But they are just so awesome and doing amazing.

I just want to say this. Missionary work. Is still. The best.
Why?
Because we are inviting the children of God to come unto Christ, to
follow Him, and to receive eternal life. There is seriously no greater
work. And you don't have to go knock doors to be a missionary. Smile
at that random stranger walking down the street. Invite your family to
read their scriptures. Do something to invite others to Christ, and
you are participating in the greatest work this world has ever known
and ever will know.

So this week was amazing. On Thursday, Elder C. Scott Grow of the
Seventy came to visit our mission. We had a conference with him that
lasted from about 9:30 in the morning to 5:45 in the evening. It was a
long conference, but I learned a whole lot! It was an amazing
experience.
One of the coolest parts was at the ending. Elder Grow picked 6
missionaries to interview personally, and I was one of them! It wasn't
a long interview, and we didn't get to talk about a lot, but it was a
super cool experience. And he gave me two invitations with a promise.
He said that I need to study from the Book of Mormon every day, and I
will reach my personal goals. And second, he told me to tell you this.
This is exactly what he said, as exactly as I can remember.

"Tell your parents that you met with a general authority this week.
Tell them that I looked into your eyes and I see a young man who wants
to do what is right. He wants to do what his Father in Heaven wants
him to do. You should be proud of who he is becoming on his mission."

He told me to tell you that, and I can't remember the exact words he
said, but that's as close as I remember them. It was a very neat
experience. He also told me that I'm very privileged to have been born
into the family that I was born into, and I've been thinking about
that a lot this week. It is so true. I really was so fortunate to have
been born into this family, and I am so grateful for it. Elder Grow
taught me a lot, and another cool thing is that while talking to him,
I continued to feel the Spirit testifying that he was called of God
and that he was going about doing the work of our Father in Heaven. It
was so neat.

I learned a lot from that conference. It was awesome. We talked a lot about the doctrine of Christ, and we spent forever there. We had an hour break for lunch, which was nice, but it was a crazy spiritual experience.

Another super cool experience includes a story from about a month and a half ago. Do you remember that crazy guy we met in the Walmart parking lot?? He told us he was kryptonian, and he was crying, and he was coming off of some hardcore drugs, (meth according to him) and we gave him a Book of Mormon and some pamphlets.

That was about 6 weeks ago, and this week we saw him again! Only this
time, it was at church!!! He came to a different ward than ours, but
we had so many meetings, we didn't end up leaving church until an hour
after our 3 hour block. We walked past him in the hall and he was
standing there, hugging a gospel principles book. I stopped and I was
like "Andrew?" (I totally remembered his name hahaha)
And then he started freaking out because he recognized us too! It was
kinda crazy and amazing! Miracles continue to happen every day, that's
for sure. It was so cool.

Amanda and Spencer are doing well. Spencer got the Aaronic priesthood yesterday, which was a cool experience. Their family also disowned them, which really stinks but they have a positive attitude about it. So if you could keep them in your prayers still, they appreciate it.

This week we also spent a lot of time trying to find people because some of our investigators have stopped meeting with us. :(

We were able to find 2 new investigators, which was awesome! I'm super excited for them, because they both seemed pretty interested. 

We are also working hard to get members to have us teach their friends who went to the temple open house. Sometimes they are reluctant, which is sometimes frustrating, but then I have to remind myself that they know their friends better than we do, and they will know when it is time to make the invitation. 

I'm glad you are being well taken care of by the ward, and that the kids are all doing so well. I love and miss them.

One thing I studied this week that I loved. I've been studying a lot about conversion and about our hearts. A lot of times, the heart is referred to in reference to conversion and stuff. The heart is regarded as the center of our thoughts, beliefs, and actions. In the Book of Mormon it is often used to reference our true intentions. Then I read Alma chapter 32:28, where it talks about planting the word in our hearts, and I pondered a lot of what that means this week. What do you think it means, with those added definitions of what the heart is?

I love you so much mom. I miss you and look up to you and brag about you daily. You are the best, and I am so grateful to be your son. I love you :)

It's so crazy that it's September! You're right! What's insane for me to think is that by the time next transfer rolls around I will have been in this area for almost 5 months. Pretty crazy stuff. 

That is so cool that he was able to use his priesthood almost immediately! I'm so proud of him! I literally just mailed his nametag like 5 seconds ago. So hopefully it gets there pretty soon. I was late in mailing Evelyn's, but I sent it on Wednesday so it should get there pretty soon. Tell Rowena Barnett thanks for the stamps! I think I already told her but tell her thanks again for me. Somehow I lost the return address for that sister that gave Leslie and the Hayes girls dance lessons. I can't believe I forgot her name already. It's weird, because now I know almost everyone in the lakeside ward by name, but I can't remember a lot of people from the 8th ward. It's gonna be even weirder because I'm not gonna know a lot of people because of the split and all that good stuff.

Alright. Cool story time. So on Saturday, we had an awesome day planned. In the morning, we had 4 hours of service planned, and then we had a member present lesson planned for right after that, then we planned another member present right after that, and then we had dinner with a less active. Then we had 2 more member present lessons planned for that evening. It was going to be a killer day! 

And then everyone cancelled except for one lesson and dinner. So, we had no idea what we needed to do, but we figured that there must be some reason that those lessons all cancelled because they were all looking pretty solid and then fell through. So we thought about what we needed to do and decided to go visit some of our potential investigators. Before we got out of car, we felt like we were in the area for some reason. There was somebody we needed to help, but we didn't know where they were and we didn't know anything, just that we needed to be somewhere. So we prayed, and in the prayer, we asked for Heavenly Father to help us know why we were there and who we needed to help.The first one we found out that he didn't actually want to meet with missionaries anymore, which was a bummer. Then the next guy said we could come back another time, but didn't give us specifics at that time. So we were like, cool, maybe that's why we were here. Then we had to go to the bathroom, and the library was down the street. Usually we drive back to the street, but for some reason we walked to the library. But, the library had just barely closed. So we started to walk back to our car. 

Let me paint the picture here. It's about 7:30 PM, just getting dark, and it's overcast and rainy. Not too bad, but you were getting wet. So we are walking down the street back to our car.

So we are walking down the street, and this guy just runs across the street to meet us! We were like, uhhhhh what?

And then he says this, breathing hard because he just sprinted across a busy street. exactly this: "Guys, I know this might sound crazy, but you're here for me right now" 

It was so awesome!!!! His name was David and he is a less active YSA. He is girlfriend had lots of questions about the church he couldn't answer and he also was wondering where he needed to go with his life because he was 23 or 24 and hadn't gone on a mission. He told us that he was driving down the street and saw two guys in white shirts and said 'please let those be elders, please let those be elders' and we were!

We got to talk to him for a good 20 minutes, answering his questions and encouraging him to study his scriptures and pray to ask God where he needed to go in life right now. It was so amazing to realize that God guided us all the way across town to answer the yet to be said prayer of this child of his who was wondering where he needed to go in life. It was such  an amazing experience! David seemed really excited about doing what we invited him to do. Just super amazing.

You have no idea how often we tell our investigators that. We'll be like, 'hey did you read the Book of Mormon?' And they'll be like 'no we were busy' and then we're like 'just doooooo it! Make your dreams come true!'

Thanks you for all the updates on how all the kids are doing. I really appreciate that. I may not have time to comment on everything that you said about them, but I really am glad to know about all the things that are going on in their lives. So. I do have a favor to request though. 

They don't always have to do it, but I would love to hear from the kids more often, like in emails and stuff. I can't always promise that I will respond that week, but I will always respond. If they don't want to, they don't have to, but I really do miss those guys. And girls. I hope Reuben got his nametag in the mail. If he did, can you send me a picture when he does get it? Hopefully I'll send Evelyn's today. :)

I can't believe Micah is turning twelve. That is so insane to me! He is growing up so fast! And so is everybody! It is ridiculous. 
Good job to Evelyn for her enthusiasm. And I know what you mean about Reuben. He is just so good hearted. Gideon's pictures are adorable. He is so funny! Leslie told me a little bit about how crazy things are. I hope she gets into BYU so we can party when I get back. You have no idea how excited I am for when we can do that. Of course, I wish I never had to leave the mission, but at the same time, I love you guys. I wish you could just come to Colorado and knock doors with me or something. Maybe that's how we'll do it when we do missionary work in the spirit world or something hahaha

So. Missionary work is awesome. Are you ready for this experience that we had this week? Okay cool. 

SO... About 3 weeks ago we met a woman named Lori. We talked to Lori by first knocking on the door of her friend, Monica. Monica was nice, and invited us back, so we kept coming back. Unfortunately, she just invited us to come back and she wasn't home, so we kept trying. After a few tries, we met Lori, who was babysitting for Monica one day. We talked to her, and she seemed very interested, so we gave her a copy of the Book of Mormon and invited her to the temple open house. We also asked her if missionaries could go to her house, because she lives outside of our area. She liked that idea, so we got her address, and sent her records on their merry way over to another ward. The sisters in that ward could not find her house for some reason. The streets in Loveland are weird, and there is a Southeast 4th Street and a 4th St Southeast, which are in different parts of the town. *eyeroll* anyways, the sister missionaries could not find her house, and we were pretty bummed about that. 

Fast forward about 3 weeks. We knock on Monica's door again, and Lori is there again! We were excited to see her and asked her if missionaries had come to her house. She said they had, but they came later than they had expected, and they only talked to her mom who happened to be at her house while Lori was working. The missionaries had just so happened to tract that street, and invite her mom to the temple open house. She told us that her mom went, and that her mom loved it, and wanted to start coming to our church! Well, of course, we thought that was super awesome. Then we asked Lori if she had a chance to read from the Book of Mormon at all. She told us that she had, and that she loved it! She told us that she had been marking verses in it, color coded from verses she liked and verses she felt would apply to her when she became a mother, because she is pregnant. Her husband is in the hospital right now, and she told us the Book of Mormon has comforted her as she has studied. We were fairly jubilant and ecstatic. We got her phone number, and had her point out her address to us on a map, and we sent the sister missionaries over to her house, and they are meeting with her now. It was so cool! The Lord really does work miracles! It was a super cool experience. 

Another cool experience we had was when we were trying to contact a lady who is an investigator who we haven't seen for a while. We knocked on her door and talked to this other lady named Rachel. As we talked to Rachel, we learned that she has recently struggled a lot, and she lost her husband a few weeks ago, and now is left with a couple of kids. When we shared our message, she started crying, and hugged us (!) we couldn't do anything about it haha but she was really touched and asked if we could come back. We are going back tomorrow and we are taking some members from the ward with us. We are so excited for her because this message really will bring her so much hope!

I love that you've been studying that as well. I've been studying that generally, but recently I've been studying specifically about how prayer helps us to come closer to our Heavenly Father. Something that has helped me learn a lot about prayer is the January 1976 ensign, because it is all about prayer. Bruce R. McConkie has an awesome article in that issue about prayer too. It's pretty amazing, the gift that we have to be able to communicate with our Father in Heaven!



Sorry I didn't email last week everyone! I was very caught up. But
it's okay, I'm sure you all enjoyed the break. But I'm back.

So these past couple of weeks have been awesome. Keith entered the
waters of baptism on the 20th, which was super awesome! Amanda and
Spencer are still doing great, they are flying through the Book of
Mormon. I think Amanda passed me in her studies. I was in 3 Nephi and
she's probably in Mormon or ether now or something crazy. Keith and
Spencer are both excited about getting the priesthood soon. It is so
awesome to see them serving and blessing the ward. The Lakeside ward
definitely needed that.

In other news, this week I discovered that prayer is pretty much the
best thing ever. I've really been focusing on it during my scripture
study, and it's changed my whole outlook on prayer for sure. I'm
learning more and more that our Heavenly Father lovingly answers
prayers. Sometimes that means waiting for a while to give us an
answer. Sometimes that means answering right away, but in a way we
don't expect. I can testify that our Heavenly Father loves us so much!
He listens to all of our prayers, and guides us as He knows will
benefit us the most. It is an amazing feeling to turn to my Father in
prayer and know that He will sustain me and those I love.

So yeah. That's one thing I learned this week. Missionary work is
still awesome. The Lord is definitely guiding us to those who need to
hear this message. We have seen probably 3 people this week break down
into tears while we are on their doorsteps because they have been
struggling and rejoiced to hear the message we shared. (Which is
awesome. Not that they cried, but that they were glad to hear the
message we share. You know what I mean.)

Thank you for the package you sent! The keyboard is super helpful
especially for emailing, let me tell you what. It hopes ten times
faster now, and my wrists don't hurt because they aren't at an awkward
angle.

Those videos of TKD are so stinking cute! Reuben's punching video is
so adorable! And I'm legit scared that Owen and Troy are just going to
kick my butt when I get home. Micah too. And Evelyn. And Leslie. What
the heck, Reuben and Gideon will probably be able to beat me up when I
get home too. It's okay though.

That is really hard that dad had to leave already. That came up super
fast. Somehow, I miss him more even though I haven't seen him in a
while. I think I miss him more because now there's a big time
difference too. Idk if that makes sense or not, but it's true. I know
he is going to be okay, and that you guys are going to be okay. It'll
be hard, but it's going to be okay in the end. And it lol be okay
during the whole thing too! You guys are just lucky you get to skype
more often. I'm still wondering how that is going to work when I skype
for Christmas and he is 9 hours ahead. I'll probably just have to
split up the time and do like 40 minutes for you guys and 20 for dad
or something like that.

Anyways, I know that somehow, even though we will all be split apart,
we are going to come closer together as a family. I don't know how
that works, but I feel like it's true. So yeah.

This week has been awesome and tough. Keith was baptized,
and I had the privilege of baptizing him too! That was super cool! He
has one of the strongest testimonies I've ever seen. He absolutely
knows that it is true. He asked to share his testimony in sacrament
meeting, and of course, the bishop was more than happy to allow him to
do that. He is going to be a great strength to the ward, along with
Spencer. Amanda is coming along a lot better. She's still a little
bitter towards the church because she can't be baptized yet, but she
believes it all to be true. It's an interesting and very sensitive
subject. I might give her your email so she can email you and so you
can talk to her actually. I think you sharing conference talks and
that YouTube video can definitely help her. I keep forgetting to show
that email to her, but I'll try to do it today, because we are going
disc golfing with them.

The temple open house was so awesome! It was very spiritual
and we brought Keith and his family and the Hammens. (Amanda and
Spencer). They absolutely loved it. Spencer volunteered for the temple
open house parking and really enjoyed that too, so that was pretty
neat. We have been working on finding new people to teach recently,
and yesterday we found two new investigators, which was aweeesooooome!
One was really cool because we went to her house and knocked on her
door because we heard from some members that she might be interested
and was struggling. So we knocked on her door, and she was very

We gave her a Book of Mormon and told her we would be back, and she
said she would like that. It was super cool! I love small miracles
like that!
