Re: March 13, 20

I also think Isaiah is awesome. Christ said "great are the words of Isaiah", but we seem to just think that those words are boring and don't apply to us! I'm just finishing up 2nd Nephi, and I thought it was so interesting how Nephi says that in the last days, people will understand the words of Isaiah, and I think I'm seeing that come to pass in my life. Don't get me wrong, half the time, I don't understand all the analogies that Isaiah is trying to make, but I know that on every single page, in every single verse, Isaiah is testifying of our Savior. When I look at the words of Isaiah with that perspective, it helps me to understand and apply them to my life.
I also love 3 Nephi 5:13, its so cool and I love that I can say that. I try to make sure that I can say that every day and that the Lord can rely on me to do that.

We have been so privileged to teach people who are humble and excited to hear about Christ and how His gospel can bless their lives. We currently have a couple who is planning on getting baptized on Saturday and an older guy who is thinking about baptism and praying about it. He seems excited though. We also have another guy who is reading and praying so it is so cool to see the change begin to come into their lives as they strive to read the Book of Mormon and apply its teachings in their lives. The coolest part about all of this is that we are not the ones converting them. One of my goals on my  mission is to be replaceable, because the most important relationship our investigators can have is with Heavenly Father, obviously. Sometimes people get converted to the missionaries, and not the gospel, and when that happens, as soon as the missionary leaves, they fall away. My goal is to be replaceable. In a good way.

So. P-days are basically the same as any other day except we don't proselyte until 6 PM. We are allowed to do a couple of other things like respond to emails and do laundry and go shopping and go do an outside activity but we are usually wearing our normal Sunday clothes. Missionary work is hard, but it's a good kind of hard. If you have a testimony , a strong testimony, then things start to work out, and that love for the work and for the people just naturally starts to happen. The most important thing to remember is to have a testimony centered absolutely totally and completely on Jesus Christ. Then everything works out and it's easier to maintain a positive attitude and to work hard.
Yeah... 8 hours of church is a lot but with the right attitude then it flies by. The ward is so cool and they feed us a lot. Like. A lot. We drive, but we would like to bike a little bit more to save on miles because our area is kinda spread out. So you can see how our area is spread out, we are living in Erie, CO. We spend most of our day in Frederick, Firestone, and Dacono. If you pull those places up on a map you'll be able to see how we are kinda spread out. Not too bad, but we still usually drive over 50 miles a day which is no bueno. Dad says that Greg and Blythe are sending my bike so then we'll be able to bike a little bit more which will be awesome. For me, personally I'm studying the Book of Mormon from start to finish, marking all the times it mentions
Jesus Christ
His words (for example, 'thus with the Lord' parts)
His attributes
His doctrine (4th article of faith basically)

I'm also studying Jesus the Christ which is so awesome! Something that really helped me learn a lot about the nature of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and even understand more about the Godhead was reading chapter 4- the ante mortal Godship of Christ. Also I am studying the teachings of the prophets and recently I've enjoyed studying Joseph Smiths accounts of the First Vision. There are four different accounts and he goes into varying degrees of detail in each one. There aren't any contradictions like some people claim, it's just super cool to study.

Now, about a new love that I have discovered. It's called........... Tracting. Super fun. You should try it sometime. It is really cool when we tract with the Spirit and are guided to homes of people who are ready to listen. It's awesome. We have found 3 new investigators this way.

I love you so much, and I know that the work that we are all participating in is true and glorious. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Jesus is the Christ.

Love you so much! Thanks for sending pictures- keep em coming and I'll do the same Face with stuck-out tongue and winking eye

I know my Sa

Can I just say this?
The mission is amazing. It is truly amazing to be serving the Lord
100% of the time by inviting His children, our brothers and sisters,
to experience the miracle of the Atonement in their lives. I can't
think of a better two weeks I've had in my entire life, which makes me
even more excited for the next 23 months. Already, it sounds so short.

We have been privileged to share the gospel with so many humble
people! It is inspiring to me to see the desire they have to follow
Christ. It is also amazing to know that we are not the ones who teach,
the Spirit is. We are just privileged to serve Him and to serve His
children.

For those of you who are still reading this far, don't flake out on me
now, I've had enough people do that this week ;P I promise to keep it
short.

2 Nephi 25:29.
Read it.
And then read this quote from Bruce R. McConkie
"True and perfect worship consists in following in the steps of the
Son of God; it consists in keeping the commandments and obeying the
will of the Father to that degree that we advance from grace to grace
until we are glorified in Christ as he is in his Father. It is far
more than prayer and sermon and song. It is living and doing and
obeying. It is emulating the life of the great Exemplar." (1971
General Conference, 'How to Worship')

I know that as we strive to develop Christlike attributes we will
receive help from Christ. He lives. He loves us all. How great is our
message!

Love you all

  1. I must say that reading your letters is so uplifting and it makes me very happy. You are growing! I pray that you will be successful at being replaceable. You are so right about the importance of that!
Love you and pray for you everyday.
